Posting Elementary Class Lists

Doug VanderJagt, Ph.D.

Human Resources-elect

This year, Rockford Public Schools will be moving into a new world of communicating with elementary parents. It is our goal to allow parents to have immediate access to class placement information. In the past, parents had to drive to the buildings and find their child’s name on a list posted outside of the building. With several parents inquiring about how to view these lists without driving to the buildings, we are using an automatic phone system to notify parents.

Commencing the 2013-2014 school year, we will use electronic notification to contact parents of their child’s upcoming placement into their elementary class. If you are signed up for Family Access at the elementary level, you will also receive a letter via email. The notification will be sent to all elementary families around the third week of August and will provide your child’s teacher’s name and room number for the upcoming school year. Some parents would like to know the names of other children that share a common teacher. At this point, we will not be able to provide that information. We are sure as word travels that students will be contacting each other to determine class placement and therefore, once you receive the notification, please feel free to contact neighbors and/or friends to inquire about their child’s class placement. Unfortunately, if you try to contact the elementary main offices, we will not be able to provide names of other students in your child’s class.

Thank you for your attention to this important change, and we look forward to seeing you in September to start another awesome school year!
