Community carnival to feature games, food and inflatables

West Cannon Baptist Church, located at 5760 Cannonsburg Road, just East of Pettis, will be holding their annual community carnival on Wednesday, August 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. All area residents are invited to join in the fun.

A tradition with the church since 2007, this year’s event promises to be a huge success with 15 to 20 carnival games and plenty of free food and beverages. The event features eight giant inflatables including a giant obstacle course which is 75 feet long with squeezes, tunnels, a rock climbing wall and a slide to the finish. There will also be a baseball speed pitching arena that might reveal the next Justin Verlander, right here in Rockford.

With attendance in the past as high as 700, the church’s Senior Pastor, Rev. Doug Crawford, hopes that that number will be surpassed this year. Rev. Doug, as he likes to be called, points out, “The church has been a part of this community for almost 100 years. Providing this carnival is a way for us to contribute to the overall environment which makes this a special place to live. One of our values is family and we hope that the carnival will provide an enjoyable and affordable evening for families.”
