The 2012-13 school year was a fantastic year for our students, staff and community. Our students excelled in the classroom, on stage and on the athletic field. Their accomplishments could not have happened without the comprehensive involvement of the RPS staff, parents and community. Thank you!
2013-14 promises to be yet another great year for our students, staff and community. In addition to the outstanding curricular and co-curricular opportunities we offer our students, RPS will implement two new pilot programs. In August we will welcome 11th and 12th grade students from China who will spend this school year living in our community and studying at Rockford High School. This new program will provide excellent learning experiences for the Chinese students and our students as well. If this pilot program is successful, we will expand it into the 2014-15 school year.
The second pilot is a unique partnership between RPS and Ferris State University. The program, titled “concurrent enrollment”, will encourage Rockford High School students to enroll in Ferris State University classes which will be taught at Rockford High School by our highly-qualified teachers. The students will earn high school credit and college credit concurrently. Credits earned will transfer to all community colleges and most four-year universities in the State of Michigan. This pilot program will be expanded in the coming years, and I encourage you to contact the high school for more information.
We are extremely proud of the educational and co-curricular opportunities available to our students and community, as well as the many successes experienced by our students and staff. The Board of Education and RPS staff are committed to continuous improvement in all we do.
