Students learn two life-skills—sewing and giving

Girls in grades two through fifth at First Congregational Church are learning to sew.

“We have had two sessions now where “seasoned” seamstresses in our Congregation who have given  their free time to teach the girls to sew,” said Alyssa Ladd.  “We have averaged around a dozen girls both times and the girls have had a great time while learning a valuable skill.  To add to that, we have made the sewing lessons mission driven.  In November, the girls made 18 pillowcases and donated them to Helen Devos Children’s Hospital.  This past Friday, March 13 we made 18 Charity Bears that we will also be donating to the Hospital.”

Congratulations to these youngsters learning a very handy skill and for taking the time to use their work to help others.
