Rams Girls Tennis wins both conference matches

Senior Allyson Healy

The Lady Rams came out strong to start OK-Red Conference Play last week. On Monday, they sailed into Grand Haven and won 6 of 8 matches and claimed victory. Impressive wins were achieved by all four singles positions. Allyson Healy (6-0, 6-1), Grace Kropiewnicki (6-0, 6-0), Delanie Riebschleger (6-0, 6-1) and Alayna Bowman (6-1, 6-2) each cruised easily to victory. Doubles wins were achieved by #1 Team Abby Ducharme/Kara Przybylski (6-4, 2-6, 6-0) and #4 Team Emily Ramsay/Delaney Emerson (6-3 tiebreaker)

The next challenge involved a home match against the Grandville Bulldogs. The Rams, who were playing without one star player, still managed to win 7 of 8 matches for another big conference victory. All four singles players, Allyson Healy, Grace Kropiewnicki, Delanie Riebschleger and Alayna Bowman scored near-perfect wins. Doubles wins were achieved by Abby Ducharme/Kara Przybylski, Whitney Howard/Chloe VanEck and Emily Ramsay/Delaney Emerson.

The experience of our veteran players is showing in the very way they take command of their matches. The younger players are steadily improving and becoming more confident with each win. It’s hard not to be excited to see how well this team can compete as the season continues. This week they will take on East Kentwood at home on Monday and travel to Caledonia on Wednesday. Matches start at 4 pm and admission is free. Crowds are becoming larger as word gets around that these ladies are for real.
