Bella Vista Church (located at 5100 Belding Rd., Rockford, MI 49341) will be hosting a craft sale to benefit Centre Lumiere in Haiti the evening of November 3rd and all day Saturday, November 4th (see details above). All items for sale are high quality and handmade by Haitian women. Featured items will include purses, scarves, pillows, doll clothes (fit American Girl dolls), aprons, hats, children and baby accessories. There will also be sweet treats and coffee available during the sale.

Proceeds from the sale will go to Centre Lumiere, a training center to help young Haitian women develop character, social skills, spiritual gifts and practical abilities that equip them for life and ministry. For many of the women this is the only source of income for their family. The women at the Centre learn to cook, sew, crochet and knit. After they have completed the course of study and learned a trade, Centre Lumiere provides a venue for selling their products.

The vision for Centre Lumiere was born in the heart of a German missionary, Luise Schurer, in 1975 after she and her husband arrived in Haiti. The need for better education plus income opportunities resulted in a unique ministry that combines life skills, school and work opportunities. The product line has evolved over the years but the concept remains the same – producing high quality handmade items that women can make in their homes while caring for their families.
