Rhythm Dance Center (RDC), located in Belmont, is announcing their new outreach program, “Reaching with Rhythm—Using and sharing our creativity to give back.” The studio can be seen all over our community each December warming hearts, creating smiles, and spreading holiday cheer.
You may have seen them dancing in the Santa Parade, or at one of three assisted living performances last weekend. Their outreach events are completely optional, yet draw so many dancers that sometimes they worry how they’ll fit! They spent weeks preparing, and the residents of Vista Springs, Riverside and Northview, and Story Point were treated to an impressive show.
Studio owner and artistic director, Jen Hanes, is proud to see her team giving back. She feels it is “important to use the gifts we have to touch lives in a positive way.” She hopes to start a Pay-it-forward chain reaction that teaches the value of giving to her dancers and brings happiness to our community.
Since the studio gets such a great volunteer turnout during the holidays, Hanes enlisted Holly Wallace (Miss Holly) to help her start a new pilot program that will focus on community service projects that continue the spirit of giving year round. As it grows she hopes to open it to other dance students in our area that would like to partake. Their first project is collecting shoes and snow boots for Coit Elementary. Anyone can drop off a new or gently used pair to the studio located at 2350 Belmont Center Dr. NE Ste 500, Belmont, MI 49306.
RDC is committed to excellence, offering contemporary dance styles and a fun, healthy, educational and creative environment for dancers of all ages and skills.
