The Rockford Girls Water Polo team dominated the West Districts 2 Championship Tournament this past weekend, with strong games against both Forest Hills and East Grand Rapids. Coming into the tournament, Rockford’s winning record earned them a bye on Friday night, leaving them two solid games to play on Saturday.

Although the day started early (8am game against Forest Hills), the girls came ready to play. Decisive goals early put the Rams in a healthy lead that would never be caught.

The win against Forest Hills earned the Rams a spot in the championship game against East Grand Rapids. The team was ready, focused, and determined to bring the trophy home to Rockford. Another strong start launched the Rams to a 13-2 victory over the Pioneers.

With their heads held high, the Rams celebrated the win at Districts, but were already focused on the challenge coming up this weekend. The Rams play Zeeland in the first round at the Regional Championship Tournament on Friday (4pm, East Kentwood High School). They’ll need to secure a win against Zeeland to make it to the state tournament, and to have the opportunity to battle for the title of Regional Champion.
