School Beat: 2018 Graduates

Dear RPS Graduates:

On behalf of the Rockford Public Schools Board of Education, employees, and the Rockford area community, I congratulate members of the Class of 2018 on earning your RPS diploma!  Your hard work and perseverance have prepared you to be career or college ready and will provide you with the tools necessary to meet the many challenges you may encounter.

Whether you plan to enter the work force following high school, enlist in a branch of the US military, continue additional technical training, or enroll in a college or university program, I believe you are well prepared for success.

Last year, I recommended to the Class of 2017 that they read the book Grit by Angela Duckworth.  I also recommend this book to you.  The author provides a relevant road map for young people to follow for success in their early adult lives and beyond. Specifically, perseverance is key to achieving your life goals.

We are proud of your accomplishments and wish you the very best that life has to offer.

Congratulations, Class of 2018!

Thank you,

Michael S. Shibler, Ph.D.

Superintendent of Schools
