By Laura Featherston – President, Board of Education
Welcome back to school! We are so excited to begin a new school year.
As a parent of a senior, I know that this year will go by quickly; it is amazing how fast the last 12 years flew by. To those of you with kindergarten students – hang on; your ride is just beginning!
As we begin a new school year, it’s a great time to share our continued commitment to the success of this district. Your Rockford Public Schools
Board of Education is committed to providing the opportunity for a high quality education to every student in our district. Our goals include continuous improvement in all areas of our district and a conviction to develop lifelong learners who will succeed in a global economy. Our alumni tell us that their education has prepared them well for life beyond K-12.
We are very fortunate to have a strong, productive working relationship among the dedicated teachers, support staff, administrators, and the Board of Education. We also enjoy extraordinary community support. Parental and community involvement and engagement through our parent groups, booster organizations, classroom volunteers, field trip chaperones and many others, is essential to our success. Our continued excellence is – directly related to our great students and families, strong community support, and our outstanding staff. We invite you to actively participate in your child’s experience at Rockford Public Schools.
Our district takes pride in the many awards we have received for academic achievements, fine arts and co-curricular activities, athletic championships, and more. One of the greatest joys of being a school board member is handing out personal, school and team awards at our school board meetings.
We look forward to shaking your student’s hand in the future.
As always, if you ever have questions, concerns or compliments, please do not hesitate to reach out to a board member or administrator. It’s going to be a great year, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
