On Wednesday, November 14th Espwa Boutique in Downtown Rockford held a Ribbon Cutting with the Rockford Chamber of Commerce. This ribbon cutting was to celebrate one year with their storefront on Courtland Street.
Espwa Boutique is a non-profit boutique selling handcrafted items that are made by women in Haiti. Most of the materials used to craft these items are donated from larger companies such as Herman Miller who donates leftover fabric pieces. These items are sold in this storefront and the funds go directly to the women in Haiti.
Behind this storefront are sisters Stacey and Grace Connell who are fulfilling a mission to elevate women worldwide from a place of spiritual, emotional and economic poverty, to a place of hope, purpose and productivity! During the ribbon cutting, Stacey and Grace attributed their success in the last year to the help of all of their volunteers. Since opening the Rockford store they have been able to employ several more women from Haiti to care for their families.
To help support this mission please remember to stop in to Espwa Boutique during your holiday shopping in Rockford.
