Over the weekend, approximately 400 wrestlers filled the Rockford High School gym to compete in a hometown MYWAY wrestling tournament. Representing the Rockford Wrestling Club were 29 athletes including both veterans and first-time competitors.
The tournament was broken into two sessions that included both open and novice brackets. Rockford’s own Cru Stuever and Jonathon Cowin won their brackets during the morning session. Charlie Wilke and Mason Welmerink both finished strong in second place.
At the afternoon session three Rams took home top honors. Brody Anderson, Leslie Madden and Ryan Ahern each earned champion recognition by winning their brackets. Calin Olson, Ethan Figueroa, Braylenn Auhlbach and Jak Keller also had strong days, and finished second in their respective weights. Third place finishers included Nixon Diemer, Caden Joyce, Caden Eckert, Thys Vanderwal, Louis Bosscher and Breck Portoluri.
On December 30th, the Rams will travel to Byron Center to participate in another MYWAY West region tournament.
