Donna Jean Danielson of Rockford, aged 76, passed away peacefully into God’s loving arms on March 14, 2019, surrounded by family. Donna was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She was loved and adored by so many! She was born on December 28, 1942, in Grand Rapids, MI, graduated from Creston High School in 1960, and attended community college.
She was an advanced first aid instructor, volunteered in St. Mary’s ER, worked at Bell Telephone and General Tel. She was an engraver at Baribeau’s Jewelry Hospital, delivered Meals on Wheels, was a book buddy, loved to cook, shop, write poetry, paint, and enjoyed spending time with her dinner club. Donna loved playing in the Queen of Hearts Bridge Club for 50 years and proudly completed 7 years of Bible Study Fellowship. She taught Sunday School and was youth director. She was also co-owner of Fairy Grams by Jack for 37 years and made many laugh with the individualized lyrics that she wrote for each performance! Donna was always involved in music programs and was a talented musician. She helped with numerous church plays by directing, making costumes, and scenery. She worked with the Rockford Band as a writer and was the “sub lady” fundraiser to help send the band to the Rose Bowl parade. She played the clarinet, bass violin, performed in the Creston marching band, and played over 30 years in the church handbell choir. She also performed over 60 years in the choir at Faith and Trinity Lutheran and made many lifelong friends. Donna adored her husband, family, and her many amazing friends.
She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 45 years, Jack Danielson; children, Michael (Kelly) Baribeau, Jack (Debbie) Danielson, Melisa (Brent) Mulder, Jacqueline (Jason) Riegling, and daughter-in-law, Ellen Baribeau; grandchildren, Lee Baribeau, Jackson and Katie Jo Danielson, Nicholas, Sarah, Alex, Anna, and Maggie Baribeau, Chase and Ethan Mulder, Tyler and Donna McPheron, Lila Riegling; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Adalyn Peterson; siblings, Merry Lou Preston and John (Pam) Schwalm; and many extended family.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Scott and Steve Baribeau, her parents, Don and Ruth (Kooi) Schwalm, and other loved ones. A special thank you to the incredible staff at Mercy Health St. Mary’s who took incredible care of Donna during her brief illness. The visitation was held on Monday, March 18, 2019, at Pederson Funeral Home.
The funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church. You are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to the Trinity Lutheran Church Choir.
