State Sen. Peter MacGregor, R-Rockford, issued the following statement following Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s State of the State address in February:
“I appreciate that the Governor highlighted a number of issues that have been priorities of mine since I began my legislative career, including finding additional solutions to our ongoing infrastructure needs, lowering auto insurance rates, and helping our communities to deal with PFAS and protect our natural resources.
“I also look forward to working with the administration to identify new priorities that will help maintain the positive trajectory Michigan has experienced over the last eight years. Michigan is once again a state where families want to live, businesses want to operate, and talented workers can find jobs.
“We should continue to pursue policies that promote job growth and lower the cost of doing business; build upon our record investment in K-12 education to advance student achievement; further prioritize career readiness programs that help workers learn new skills and earn bigger paychecks; and make state government more responsive to the citizens it serves.
“Michigan has experienced a dramatic resurgence, but there is still more to accomplish. We have a responsibility to work together to keep the positive momentum going, and I look forward to the challenge.”
