Rockford to Host Run and Kayak Race on Aug. 11
The second annual Go Rogue race will return to Rockford on Sunday, Aug. 11. The unique race includes a 3.5 mile run and 3.5 mile kayak trip that begins and ends in downtown Rockford.
Racers will run north on the White Pine Trail, starting at the Rockford Footwear Depot. The run portion ends at Camp Rockford, where participants will pick up kayaks and begin the paddle back to downtown Rockford. Participants will receive a protein cookie and water bottle at the exchange point and a boxed lunch and beer ticket at the finish line celebration.
“Go Rogue is the quintessential summer racing event — exploring Rockford by land and water, getting showered in hometown hospitality,” said Kaitlin Thornton, Executive Director. “We are greatly looking forward to bringing this race back for our second year.”
Go Rogue aims to promote community through partnership with local businesses and raising money for a good cause. New for 2019, a portion of the event proceeds will go to a scholarship fund to help local children attend summer camp at Camp Roger.
The cost to register is $65 through March 31. Participants may sign up after March 31 for $70. Kayak rental is available for an additional fee. To register, visit www.goroguerockford.com.
