God blessed Linda Sue Kohl, 67, of Rockford with a holy death and took her home on June 8, 2019 to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead. She was surrounded by loved ones as the angels carried her to heaven. Linda was given life by her creator and was born on July 2, 1951 to Thurl and Winifred (Wood) Cunningham in Mishawaka, Indiana. On August 1, 1951, she received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1969 and earned her Associates Degree from Grand Rapids Community College. Linda retired from AT&T in 2005. She then served as an aide and secretary/treasurer at St. Peter’s Lutheran Preschool. She volunteered with CASA (Court Appointed Child Advocate) and was a very dedicated member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for many years. On September 16, 1978 she received the gift of a beloved companion in her husband, Dean Kohl, who preceded her in death in 1996.
Linda is survived by her daughter Elizabeth “Betsy” (Russ) Lash of Springfield, Illinois and her grandson, Ezra, who is expected to be born in late August; two sisters: Wini Robison, Kathy (Earl) Motts; her brother Jim (Stephanie) Cunningham; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sara Jean Kohl in 1984, son David Kohl in 2007, and sister Susan Cunningham in 1950.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2019, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Pederson Funeral Home in Rockford. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, 11:00 am at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Rockford, Michigan, with Pastor Jason Peterson officiating and Pastor Michael Schuermann preaching.
