Obituary: Michelle M. Crook

Michelle M. Crook of Grand Rapids, Michigan, age 34, passed away on May 28, 2019. She died under hospice care at her parents’ home from kidney failure due to her lifelong metabolic disorder called Methylmalonic Acidemia. Michelle was born to Robert and Mary (Suchowolec) Crook on September 28, 1984, in Grand Rapids, MI. After Michelle graduated from Rockford High School, she worked at a childcare facility. When her kidneys became more compromised, she had to give up her job. She then did volunteer work helping in a classroom at Wealthy Elementary, doing office work at Spectrum Health Hospice and working the lunch hour at God’s Kitchen.

Michelle had many medical and physical challenges. However, she had a bucket list filled with many exciting adventures. She fulfilled most of that list with her determination and courage. We will remember Michelle for her beautiful soul and many selfless acts of kindness. She was a very strong young woman, yet very sweet.

Michelle is survived by her parents, Robert and Mary (Suchowolec) Crook; brother, Jim (Kate) Crook; nephews, Charlie and Ben Crook; paternal grandmother, Ruth Houser; her aunts and uncles, Barb and Joe Borrello, Steve and Lois Suchowolec, Joan Schlenker and Chris Suchowolec; cousins, Phil (Jen) Bennett, Pam (Greg) Bunton and Kim Fisher; and special friends, Katherine and Amber.

Michelle was preceded in death by her siblings, Andy and Stephanie; her maternal grandmother, Irene; grandfathers, Phil, Allister, and Frank; and aunt, Pam.
