The Kent District Library (KDL) and the West Michigan Therapy Dogs Association have been partnering since 2002 to pair young readers with therapy dogs. Ruff Readers is a unique read-aloud program at KDL that pairs kids ages 6 and up with trained therapy dogs and handlers who love to hear a good story. Kids can improve their reading skills and confidence with these impartial listeners. Ruff Readers is offered at several KDL branches this summer, including Krause Memorial Library, 140 E. On Friday, June 12, at 7 p.m., Michael Lee will be performing at the Frenz Coffee House in the Promenade on Bridge St. in Rockford. Michael Lee is a singer-songwriter from the Boyne area of northern Michigan, whose vocal and lyrical style won him first place in the 2008 Mid North Michigan Blues Challenge in Traverse City.
