Golf event helps students succeed

The Rotary Club of Rockford and the Rotary Club of Grand Rapids are hosting the 15th Annual STRIVE Golf Outing this year on August 15 to support the STRIVE Scholarship program. The program provides mentoring, life skills coaching and scholarships to at-risk students at Rockford, Creston and Ottawa Hills high schools. Local Rotary clubs are still actively seeking golfers and sponsors. The event begins with a 1 p.m. shotgun start at Blythefield Country Club. Hundreds of students have benefited from the Rotary STRIVE program, which provides mentoring to at-risk West Michigan students, as well as life skills coaching and scholarships. Rotarians are always looking for STRIVE mentors, who do not need to be Rotarians, but can be any adult with time to spend helping a young man or woman with life skills. To participate in the STRIVE golf outing, bring a foursome and play at this championship course. If you are not a golfer, join us for the evening dinner celebration and auctions to support Rockford’s STRIVE program. Registrations and sponsorships are available online at www.grrotary.org/Events/GolfTournament or call Ramona Hinton at (616) 866-1500 or Jenni Aiello at (616) 459-5640.
