Weirs celebrate 50th Stan and Joan Weir of Rockford are celebrating their 50th anniversary on Monday, April 12, 2010. They were married on April 12, 1960, at First Reformed Church in Grand Haven, Mich. Their children are Scott and Tracy Weir of Rockford and Tom and Marcy Engelsman of Grand Haven. Their grandchildren are Austin, Gavin and Molly Weir and Whitney and Grant Engelsman. A family party is planned for May 1, 2010.

McCrackens celebrate 50 years of marriage

                Jack and Sandra McCracken of Rockford will be celebrating 50 years of marriage on September 19, 2009. They were married at Sparta Baptist Church in 1959. Jack and Sandra are the parents of Tim and Patti McCracken of Kent City, and Terry and Brenda McCracken of Grant, and the grandparents of Dan and Brenda McCracken, Ryan McCracken, Christina Kusmierz, Troy McCracken, Christopher Kusmierz, Eric McCracken, Chad McCracken and Jack McCracken. The couple will celebrate this occasion with a family dinner on their anniversary.

Hommingas celebrate 50 years

Frederick “Tony” and Patricia Homminga of Grand Rapids are celebrating 50 years of marriage with an open house at Townsend Park Pavillion, Rockford, on Saturday, August 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The couple were united in marriage on September 3, 1959, at the Plainfield Township Fire Station Hall. Frederick enlisted in the U.S. Navy after marriage and spent a few years in Rhode Island and Antigua before returning to Michigan. He became a diesel mechanic for Contractors Machinery and ATL/ANR Truck Lines, retiring from ANR. He went on to get his builder’s license and helped to build a few Parade of Homes houses in the Grand Rapids area. Patricia worked as a phone operator for Amway for many years, and for a time was also an administrator’s assistant for a local business network communications company. She is now enjoying being a full-time mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is an avid reader, and also loves spending time in her garden. The Hommingas’ children include Deborah Homminga, Darrell Homminga, Denise Hofstra, and Darla-Jo (Mike) LeBaron. Grandchildren include; Paige, Stephanie and Matthew Hofstra; Alex Rude; Shelby, Chelsea and Ashley Homminga. The couple has one great-grandson, Marcus Brown.

Colemans celebrate 50 years

Jim and Kay (Ziegler) Coleman of Rockford will celebrate 50 years of marriage on September 12, 2009, with an open house on Sunday, Sept. 6, at the Rockford Community Cabin from 4 to 8 p.m. Their friends in the community are welcome to attend. The couple were married in 1959 in Fond Du Lac, Wis. They have five children, Kelly (Barb) Coleman, Michael (Tammy) Coleman, Gary Coleman, Chris (Lindsay Ryerson) Coleman, Diane (Tom) Biggs; six grandchildren, Jeni, Joe, Maddison, Mitch, Drew, Margot, and one on the way; and four great-grandchildren, Max, Avery, Noah, Levi, and another on the way (in loving memory of Alec and Owen).
