A 50th wedding anniversary will be observed on July 11 for Gene and Verna (Smith) Ashley of Rockford. They will celebrate their special day together with a dinner at Reds on the River. On August 8, an open house celebration will be held in their honor at the Rockford Community Cabin from 1 to 5 p.m., given by the couple’s children and grandchildren. Gene and Verna’s children are Brian Ashley, Dennis and Bobbie Jo BeVier, and Kevin and Becky Briggs. The couple has five grandchildren: Justin and Tyler BeVier, and Christopher, Brandon and Kelsi Briggs.
Navarres celebrate 50th anniversary William and Sharon Navarre of Rockford are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, April 17, 2009. They were married April 17, 1959, in Barryton, Michigan at the Church of God. Their children are Denise and Clyde Place of Barryton, Audrey and John Wood of Hickory Corners and Deanna Navarre of Grand Rapids. They have nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. An open house is planned for April 25, 2009 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Greenville. Family and friends are invited. No gifts, please.
On Monday April 6, Royal (Pete) and Ruth (Joslin) Cooper observed their 63rd wedding anniversary. Children of the Rockford couple are Kenneth and (Debbie) Cooper, Helen and (Steve) Smith, Donald and (Jeanne) Cooper, JoAnn and (David) Fowler, Nancy Samsel and Dale Cooper. The couple have 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
