Kleynenberg Curtis Kleynenberg, age 37, of Sand Lake passed away on Friday, October 23, 2009, following injuries from an automobile accident. He was a 1990 graduate of Rockford High School, where he was a diver on the swim team, receiving several awards including being honored as an All State diver. He worked with his grandfather and father at Kleynenberg Well Drilling. Curt was his father’s son: they both had a happy-go-lucky, cheerful outlook in the world and toward life; they were optimistic, and looked for fun in whatever they were doing. He learned to hunt, fish and camp with his dad “up north.” When they decided to build a cabin, any old cabin would not do. Curt found some old barn beams, re-cut them, laid them all here in Rockford, then transported it all to Grand Marais and built a timber frame cabin—one that would last a long time. Curt’s dream was to share this cabin with his sons, and make the happy memories with Sam and Eli as he had with his dad. His laughter, his wit, his smile, his love of politics, his love of hunting and fishing, and his ability to talk to anyone will be missed by all who were close to him. He deeply loved his parents, and Curt and Kari cared for his dad in their home when he became ill. He loved his grandparents, who were always there for him. He had a great love for his very large family of supportive people. He is survived by his loving wife, Kari; sons, Samuel and Elijah, who he liked to take golfing, fishing and hunting; his father, Paul Kleynenberg; mother and step-father, Barbara and Robert Cain; grandparents, Richard and Sheila Hendricks, Arthur and Jane Kleynenberg; brother and sister-in-law, Will and Melanie Ragsdale; aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be missed so much by everyone that he touched. The memorial service for Curtis was Monday, October 26, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. at Pederson Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Wilson officiating. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the needs of the family. Arrangements were made by Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford. Burch Mr. Ronald H.
