Chandler Woods Charter Academy students were thrilled to kick off 2012 with a healthy, educational activity, so they celebrated the new year by curling up in their slippers with their favorite stuffed animals and comfy pillows for 2,012 seconds (approximately 34 minutes) of reading. The Young Five’s fifth-grade students (pictured) lined Chandler Woods’ hallways and gymnasium as they indulged in their favorite books for this school-wide silent reading activity.

Chandler Woods Charter Academy’s seventh-grade students recently enjoyed a school rafting trip. They went to Baldwin and took rafts down the Pere Marquette River. Last month Belmont’s Chandler Woods Charter Academy eighth-grade students were taken on a surprise trip called “Sneak.” The kids had no idea where they were headed, but they had to accomplish missions along the way and work together as a team. Each year the trip really helps the students get to know their classmates better. This year the destinations were Millennium Park, bowling, rollerblading and Craig’s Cruisers—the kids had a blast!
