Huffman Mr. Harley S. Huffman, age 85, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. He worked as Head Custodian at Rockford High School from 1968 to 1987 and was a school bus driver, jobs that were just perfect for him. Harley loved being around kids, and the kids loved him. He was a very hard-working man who provided for his family, oftentimes working three jobs at one time. His family was very proud of the two-bedroom cinder-block home that he built for his family. Later in life he built homes for his two oldest sons. Harley was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved fishing, and his children remember hunting with their dad for night crawlers in their front yard after a heavy rain, or the Sunday morning that was reserved for hunting rabbits, or shooting at the blackbirds in the swamp. He was a hands-on dad who entertained his children; they were never bored. There were many sacrifices that he made for his children, but most important, Harley gave his children unrelenting love and taught them about values for which there is no price. He was a man who was loved by all. Harley is survived by his loving wife, Violet; children, Harley (Rose) Huffman Jr., Charles and Jean Huffman, Randy and Cathy Huffman, Kimberley Sevelen, and Patricia Nowak; former son-in-law, Chuch Sevelen; grandchildren, Bryan (Kelly) Huffman, Dan Huffman, Heather (Brett) Burns, Jeff (Pam) Huffman, John (Teri) Huffman, Morgan (Scott) Sudziak, Erica (Doug) Linderman, James (Victoria) Nowak; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Huffman; and son-in-law, Robert David Nowak. A gathering to celebrate Harley’s life was from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Pederson Funeral Home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider North Kent Community Services, 10075 Northland Drive, Rockford, MI 49341. Arrangements were made by Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford. Richardson Mr. Harold Richardson, age 93, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 29, 2011. He grew up on his parents’ farm in Plainfield Township where the old barn still stands on Childsdale Road. At a very early age, Harold was milking cows and helping on the farm […]
