A Rockford football golf outing is scheduled for Saturday, July 24, at Boulder Creek Golf Club, 5750 Brewer Ave., Belmont. Fans of Rockford Rams football can support the program by signing up for a sponsorship or for participating in the outing, which starts with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. and ends with a dinner and awards ceremony at 7 p.m. Included in the cost is green fees and cart, dinner, contest hole prizes, raffle prizes, a day full of laughs, and Ram fans and post-play dinner. The format for the event is a shotgun four-person scramble on an 18-hole course. Foursomes may be requested, but it is not necessary to have a foursome to register. The entry fee is $75 per golfer or $300 per foursome. For non-golfers, dinner only is available for just $25. Registration is due by July 5, 2010. Through support of this event, the Rockford football program is able to assist Rockford families by covering the “pay to play” costs for those who are experiencing difficult financial times, allowing everyone the opportunity to participate. They are also able to purchase new equipment to keep the players safe, provide snacks and drinks for the two-a-days and team camps, as well as cover additional expenses. Organizers are asking for participation with the hopes that this year will not only be a great day of golf with Ram fans, but also an opportunity to raise money for this incredible program. Gold Corporate Golf Sponsorship is $450 prior to June 30, and is $500 after June 30. It includes a foursome for golf with a cart, a hole sign sponsorship, dinner for four after the event, and recognition at the event. Silver Corporate Golf Sponsorship is just $200 prior to June 30, and $250 after. It includes hole sign sponsorship and dinner for four after the event. Please indicate which sponsorship level you are selecting and mail payment (payable to Rockford Football) to Denise R. Hodges, RHS Football Golf Outing, 3069 Royal Hanna Dr. NE, Rockford, MI 49341, no later than July 5, please. The number one state-ranked Lady Rams of Rockford completed their regular dual meet season in dramatic fashion this past Monday, May 10 at Ted Carlson Memorial Stadium, where they edged perennial rival East Kentwood 78-59 to remain undefeated in OK Red action. The Rams claimed victory in nine of the 17 events. Winning individual performances were given by seniors Sarah Birkmeier (pole vault), Rachel Jerrils (400 and 200 dash), Sam Mette (300 hurdles), and junior Emily Halliday (shot put). The Rams’ 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter relay squads also claimed victories. Relay team members were Jerrils, Abby Blanchard, Courtney Klawieter, Margaret Smiley, Katie DeHaan, Katie Carlson, Taylor Manett, Catie Rietsema and Jane Hawks. “This was a total team effort. We took 11 of a possible 13 third-place finishes, which creates a 22-point swing, coupled with eight of 13 second place finishes. A lot of our young ladies stepped it up and got the job done,” said Ram Head Coach Randy VanderVeen. This victory nearly guarantees the Rams of a partial OK Red title with the conference championship meet happening Friday, May 21 at Jenison. “We are halfway there, but there is lot of work to be done to claim this title outright,” stated VanderVeen.
