Halfway restaurant thanks patrons for holiday support, donations

December 9, 2010 // 0 Comments

Melissa Brower and Michelle Wordens, owners of Halfway Restaurant, located on M-57 halfway between the CedarRock business district and Greenville, would like to thank the community for support and donations to help neighbors in need this holiday season. The restraurant offered a free Thanksgiving dinner to patrons who were unable or did not care to cook that day and took donations during the event. “We served over 150 people, which is a higher number than we served last year, the first year we offered the Thanksgiving meal for free,” said Brower. The event raised over $1,000 and many donations of food. Half of the money and food donations will be going to Lean On Me Outreach Ministry located in Rockford and the other half went to Hands of Jesus, an outreach located in Greenville. The restaurant will continue to collect either non-perishable food items or money for these two worthy charities through December 19. Brower and Wordens also would like to thank all the volunteers who helped that day serving the meals. They appreciate the strong community support and look forward to another successful year.
