May 24, 2012 // 0 Comments

On Monday, May 7 there were 57 kind and caring individuals who signed up at the Rockford Community Cabin for the Michigan Blood drive. According to Melissa Meitz, donor relations specialist with Michigan Blood, there were a total of 43 units of blood donated. “Several people should also be recognized for reaching new gallon levels!” Meitz commented. Those reaching the new gallon levels of donating included Brenda Brancato and Kathie Wolf, reaching two gallons, and David Jezak and Susan Rabick, each reaching the three-gallon donation level. “I also have some fun news to share,” stated Meitz. “At the next two blood drives hosted at Community Cabin, we will be celebrating Donor Appreciation Days. Every person that registers to donate at one of the two dates listed below will receive a box of Girl Scout cookies as a thank-you for their commitment to blood donation.” The next two donation times at the Rockford Community Cabin, 220 Monroe Street in Rockford, are Monday, June 4 from noon to 7 p.m. and Monday, July 2 from noon to 7 p.m. Blood donations are always dangerously low in summer because people go on vacation and have busy agendas. However, need is always quite high, so take the time to donate if you are able and help save lives.
