Rockford celebrates National Day of Prayer

This year’s Rockford Ministerial Association Day of Prayer was held at Bishop Hills Elder Care Community on Thursday, May 6. Local students gathered to sing, pray and hear words by community and church leaders. The first call for prayer for our leaders was in 1775. In 1952 President Truman declared a National Day of Prayer, and in 1988 President Reagan signed into law declaring the National Day of Prayer to be the first Thursday in May. Now, each year the current president signs a proclamation encouraging prayer for our nation.
