Musicians Institute (MI), College of Contemporary Music has awarded its D’Addario Bass Scholarship to Connor Coram of Grand Rapids. The scholarship is a once-occurring award granted to one student accepted to MI’s Associate of Arts program in bass performance and grants $1,000 in tuition credit to the recipient for the first quarter of their program. In response to the scholarship award, Coram said, “I am honored as a musician to accept this award. Musicians Institute is my dream and I thank you all for giving me the opportunity to shine!” Coram remarked that he chose to pursue his studies at MI because, “I love learning all styles of music, and I will strive to grasp everything that MI has to offer—everything from familiar styles like metal, to something that’s completely new to me like Brazilian bass or upright bass.” MI congratulates Coram on his achievement, which marks a great beginning to his studies and thanks its longtime industry partner, D’Addario Strings and the D’Addario Music Foundation for generously sponsoring the 2011 D’Addario Bass Scholarship, which helps to provide talented students like Coram with the support, tools and recognition they need to launch successful and creative careers in the music industry.
