Finalist set to compete in live finale on December 8 Thank you, Rockford. One of our own is in the top six for WOTV 4’s “The Face of 4” and is one week away from possibly being selected as a new television personality. By winning the People’s Choice portion of a contest designed to find the next spokesperson for the local TV station, Emmett TerBeek, a 2004 Rockford High School graduate, is moving up to the last round. If he is chosen as their number one pick, he will sign a $20,000 contract as the station’s spokesman for 2010. WOTV 4 is an affiliate of TV 8 and is produced in Grand Rapids. Carly Munoz, events organizer, said the station wanted a new way to select their spokesman, who will be a regular on television and appear at events throughout the year. She said this will be an annual event for the station and has generated a lot of excitement. Open auditions were performed and anyone was allowed to try for the job. Hundreds waited in line to give a one-minute audition and from that contestants were narrowed down to the top 20. TerBeek made the initial cut. Last week, the Squire invited Rockford readers to vote for TerBeek in a bid to win the People’s Choice portion of the final round. Five of the top 20 were to be selected to move on by the station, while one person would be chosen by votes of the public. TerBeek took that win with about 10,000 votes cast overall for the contest. Now the last round will be determined, in part, again by popularity. A final casting call party will be held at Peppino’s Downtown Sports Lounge, 130 Ionia Ave., Grand Rapids, on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m., although the doors open at 6 for those who want to get there early. Admission is free, but a ticket is required. Tickets can be acquired through contestants, WSNX and WOTV 4 or by e-mailing TerBeek at WOTV 4 is looking for an individual who is outgoing, charismatic, creative, stylish and has lots of on-camera personality. TerBeek hopes to be that individual, and said the final decision is made, in part, by how many people show […]
