Rockford student athletes commit to college on Media Day

“This is your chance to get to know some of our outstanding student athletes,” said Athletic Director Tim Erickson on Tuesday, May 24. Nearly forty students and hundreds of parents along with members of the media were in attendance at the Freshman Center as the athletes committed to a college or university of their choice. In boys baseball, five students made a commitment to their next level of education. Bryan Baldwin will attend Spring Arbor University; Christian Lienesch and Austin Stephens will go on to play for Grand Rapids Community College, Caleb Post will attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Connor McClain will attend Aquinas College. From the basketball program Ryan Majerle has committed to playing his sport and attending college at the University of Toledo. Crew athletes Austin Burris and Chris Gaigalas will attend Grand Valley State University and TJ Jacobs will go on to Marietta College. In cross country track and field Abby Blanchard will run for the University of Notre Dame. Anna Bos will attend Trinity Christian College. Spencer Gerber will go on to compete for Ferris State University and Emily Halliday and Catie Rietsema will each attend Aquinas. Football’s Brett Egnatuk is moving on to study and play at Central Michigan University and Tyler Pratt will and Neil VanderLaan will continue their educations at Saginaw Valley State University. Colin Remtema is heading to Hillsdale College and Nate Sanders is going to Olivet College. Parker Ehniger will play and study at Cincinnati. Lacrosse player Alyssa Neuman will continue her athletic career and studies at Grand Valley State University. Sydney Gray will head to Rock Island, Illinios to the private college Augstana. In Soccer Syndey Benda will attend Savannah College of Art and Design; Emily Cowan will attend Cleveland State University; Melanie Esch goes to Coastal Carolina University; Dylan Bronkema will attend Indiana Wesleyan University and John Reglin will be going to Elmhurst. Softball player Peyton Wells will play and study at Hope College and Tricia Graham will go to Central Michigan University. Swim athletes Alexa Caster heads to Youngstown State University and Sloan Oullette will attend Hope College. Jamie Van Portfliet will attend Robert Morris University in downtown Chicago.
