Klase Kody E. Klase, 16, of Belmont passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010. He was a sophomore at Rockford High School and enjoyed attending the youth group at Resurrection Life Church in Rockford. Kody is survived by his loving parents, Dean and Cheryl; brother, Wayne Miller; sister, Amanda Mendez; niece, Cherish Mendez; aunts, Pam (Charlie) Neihardt and Dana Moore; and uncle, Jeff (Rhonda) Moore. The service of praise and thanksgiving for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ for Kody will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Life Church in Rockford with Pastor Tim Simon officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at Pederson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the needs of the family. Grief counselors available for students after high school student found dead  Kody Klase, 16, had complained of a cold  The parents of Kody Klase, 16, found their son dead in his room the evening of Sunday, Sept. 26 after being out of town. Klase was described by Rockford High School Principal Dan Zang as a very pleasant young man well-liked by his peer group. “It was just devastating news to hear this morning,” Zang said. “Grief counselors are available to our students.” Klase was active in his youth group at Resurrection Life Church in Rockford. “It is a very difficult day. We have had our share of devastating events of late,” Zang said. “What amazes me is how well our kids take care of each other. In addition to the counseling staff, we have seen lots of students helping each other through this grief.” Carpenter  Mrs. Mary Ann Carpenter, 106, the senior member of the Rockford community, passed away late Sunday evening, Sept. 19, 2010, at her home. She was born March 25, 1904, and lived all her life within five miles of Rockford. Mary was born to Jennie and George Dunn on a farm on Courtland Drive, where she grew up. She attended Shank Elementary School on 12 Mile Road and graduated from Rockford High School in 1922.
