Staff offers over 40 years experience to downtown location  by BETH ALTENA “When you love what you do, it is amazing how well you can work together,” said Teri Hostler, ABO optician at In Focus Eyecare, 25 North Main Street, Rockford. The staff celebrates one year under the ownership of Mark Swan, OD, MEd, FAAO, who purchased the practice October 18, 2010. Dr. Swan and Ms. Hostler together are continuing the passionate customer service and dedication to eyecare and eyewear formerly provided by the previous owner. Swan is an establishment to the downtown Rockford practice and, when the former owner decided it was time to pursue other interests, was thrilled to purchase the business. Swan is a professor of optometry at the Michigan College of Optometry, located at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich., where he serves as chief of the Pediatrics and Binocular Vision Service. To accommodate patients on a daily basis, Swan brought in Hostler to help manage the busy practice. Both have over 20 years experience in the industry and share a love of serving customers with the most advanced and comprehensive care. During Rockford’s Holiday Open House events November 15, 16 and 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. In Focus Eyecare invites the public to stop in the office and see the newest look—both in the redecorated office and with the latest styles in frames, which will be 50 percent off during the open house. Enjoy style shows each day with new frame styles brought in by featured designers. Also, enjoy refreshments on Tuesday evening during the Holiday Lighting Ceremony. While strolling beautiful downtown Rockford during the holiday seasons, it is easy to imagine the town is a snippet of Americana of days past, but is in fact also home to professionals involved in the most current aspects of their industries. Swan and Hostler are no exceptions to this truth. Swan, in addition to his role as a professor, is also the chief of the optometry service at Saint Mary’s Health Care in Grand Rapids. He has served the profession of optometry at the national level having been appointed to several volunteer and leadership positions in the American Optometric Association including the Aviation Vision Committee, Health Information Technology and […]
