Rockford artist Callihan in Michigan artists exhibit

There are only 10 Michigan artists selected for the exhibition The Michigan Collection: Artists from the Great Lakes State and Rockford artist Michael Callihan has been selected as one of the best in the exhibition at Saper Galleries in downtown East Lansing. Callihan’s pastoral oil pantings of Michigan landscapes, both real and imagined, are at the centerpiece of the exhibition which continues through February.  “Spiritually, emotionally, and aesthetically pure”, is how gallery owner Roy Saper describes Callihan’s dreamlike landscapes. The exhibition is free to the public Monday through Saturday 10am to 6 p. m. and Thursday nights until 9 pm.  More info at Sunday, February 7 the gallery is open from 1 to 4 p. m. The exhibition features paintings, limited editions, sculpture, and mobiles by artists with a Michigan connection from the Saper Galleries inventory.  Saper Galleries, celebrating its 31st year, was selected as the top exhibition gallery in the nation by Art World News magazine in 2009.
