Fegel graduates from EMU

Tim Fegel II, a 2007 Rockford High School graduate, has graduated summa cum laude from Eastern Michigan University (EMU) with a 3.92 grade-point average. While attending EMU, Fegel was a lab instructor for the geology department and a manager/climbing instructor at Planet Rock Climbing Gym in Ann Arbor. He has received a bachelor of science degree as a professional geologist. Fegel was awarded the 2011-2012 Outstanding Undergraduate for his department at EMU. While attending field camp in Jackson Hole, Wyo. last summer, a geology graduation requirement, through the University of Michigan (U of M), he attained a 4.0 for the class and was nominated to represent U of M with an internship through the United States Geological Survey (USGS). After a process of applications, essays and interviews, Fegel was selected for a paid internship with the USGS that began this past May in Fort Collins, Colo. After completing a five-month contract with the USGS, he will continue this research position with Colorado State University (CSU) and has received a full-ride scholarship to pursue a master’s degree at CSU. Fegel is the son of Tim Sr. and Merribeth Fegel, and grandson of Bill and Barbara Brillinger and Bill and Paula Fegel, all Rockford residents.
