The Kent District Library (KDL) and the West Michigan Therapy Dogs Association have been partnering since 2002 to pair young readers with therapy dogs. Ruff Readers is a unique read-aloud program at KDL that pairs kids ages 6 and up with trained therapy dogs and handlers who love to hear a good story. Kids can improve their reading skills and confidence with these impartial listeners. Ruff Readers is offered at several KDL branches this summer, including Krause Memorial Library, 140 E. Bridge St., Rockford, on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. from June 9 to July 28. To register for a session, call the library at (616) 647-3940. For more information, visit www.kdl.org.
